We were pretty shocked since sitting out by the pool for hours was our plan for the afternoon anyway (we had not complained!), and when we went up to see our room, we were shocked. When we finally got a room, the front desk was very apologetic about the wait, and as compensation, upgraded us to a suite on the 5th (top) floor.
It was not crowded at all, and immediately, we felt relaxed- we were truly on vacation. We slipped into our bathing suits and enjoyed the pool area very much as the front desk held our luggage. We had booked the least expensive room you could get, so this was not necessarily a surprise. We arrived at around 2 on a Wednesday, but our room was not ready. We normally go there on special occasions for their buffet which is indeed legendary, deservedly so, so we knew that at least would be great. We live here in San Diego County, and had noted that the weather was gorgeous compared to places we could pay to go to, but my husband and I needed to get away from home, so decided on Viejas Resort.
